Three Words for Sin

  

When we see these three words in scripture it helps to know their meaning to recognize sin for what it is. 

 

Transgression means rebellion, trespass, lawlessness  Isa 58:1,  John 3:4,  Dan 8:23

 

Sin is missing the mark  1 John 3:4  & 5:17  James 4:17, Rom 14:23

 

Iniquity is moral depravity, perverseness of spirit  Matt 23:38, Isa 59:12, Titus 2:4, Isa 35:6-10
